Dr. Lowell “Coach” Wightman

Dr. Lowell “Coach” Wightman has spent more than three decades defining what it means to perform with purpose. As a mental performance coach, educator, and founder of 360 Mindset, Dr. Wightman has guided elite athletes, entertainers, and corporate leaders toward measurable excellence—where mindset meets execution. His philosophy, Desire for Excellence, is rooted in his belief that true coaching connects structure, philosophy, and human behavior to create sustainable performance.

A former athlete himself, Wightman played basketball for legendary University of Iowa coaches Dick Schultz and Lute Olson—experiences that shaped his lifelong framework for leadership, integrity, and teamwork. He later earned his Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Human Development from Colorado State University, following his Master’s in Education Administration and Supervision from the University of Phoenix and a BBA in Finance from the University of Iowa.

Dr. Wightman has coached and collaborated with NCAA and professional teams, including Colorado State University Football, where his mental conditioning curriculum helped reshape team culture and performance from 2012–2014. His career began in Chicago, mentoring professional athletes such as Antwaan Randle El (NFL), Eddy Curry (NBA), and Curtis Granderson (MLB)—all of whom embody the high-performance principles he teaches.

Beyond the field, Dr. Wightman is a certified Reiss Motivation Profile® Master Trainer, applying motivational science to help teams and executives understand the intrinsic drives behind excellence. His work has extended to the boardroom and the arts—coaching corporate executives, first responders, military leaders, and performing artists to align mindset, purpose, and peak performance.

A frequent keynote speaker and host of the 360 Performance podcast, Wightman continues to share stories and strategies that bridge mental conditioning, leadership, and emotional intelligence. His message is simple: success is not an accident—it’s a process, practiced daily.

“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.” – Albert Einstein
Dr. Wightman believes this truth defines both the challenge and the joy of coaching the human spirit.
